Call Keniri: talk it through like a phone call

Until now, you could type your answers to Keniri or speak them one at a time with the microphone button. Now there's a third way, and it's the one that feels most like a real conversation: you can call Keniri.

What a call is like

It works like a phone call. Keniri asks a question out loud and you answer in your own time. You can pause to think, start a sentence again, or think out loud on the way to what you mean. Keniri keeps listening through the gaps rather than jumping in.

When you've finished an answer, just stop talking for a few seconds and Keniri moves on. If you'd rather not wait, there's a small link to move on. There's a short pause between questions while Keniri works out what to ask next, a bit like someone on the other end of the line taking a moment before they reply.

You can tap "Type instead" at any point to switch to typing, and go back to calling whenever you like. Your place in the conversation stays where it was, and every answer counts towards the same report.

When I tried it myself, a call felt like a much more natural conversation than speaking my answers one question at a time.

Short report or keep going

After 12 answers there's enough for a short report, so Keniri asks what you'd like to do. You can stop there and get your report straight away, or keep going for a fuller one. That's usually another 20 or so questions, about half an hour more. Just say which, or tap the button.

What stays the same

The call changes how the questions are asked, not what happens to your answers.

  • Keniri still chooses every question. The voice asks it; the conversation behind it works exactly as it does when you type.
  • Your report still quotes you. What you say is turned into text, and that's what the report quotes, word for word.
  • No recordings are kept by Keniri. Each answer's audio is deleted once it's been turned into text. OpenAI, which provides the voice, may keep safety logs for up to 30 days. The privacy notice has the details.

How to try it

Choose "Call Keniri" on the "about you" screen before your conversation starts, or "Call Keniri instead" under the answer box once you're under way. It works best somewhere quiet, and headphones help.

It's free up to your Report Preview, and included in the full report.
